Malia Burris, LSW, is the founder of The Live Well Experience, a creative wellness practice shaped by her background in social work, Expressive Arts, and therapeutic sound.
Her work creates opportunities for people to express themselves in ways that extend beyond traditional conversation. Through workshops, individual sessions, community programming, and public art, Malia brings well-being into spaces where people already live and gather.
Malia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from Millersville University, where she also completed a certificate in Expressive Arts. She is a Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioner and completed a six-month intensive training through the Soundwise School of Harmonic Therapy.
Her professional experience includes community-based work with children, teens, adults, and older adults, along with expressive arts and equine-assisted approaches through Lone Oak Animal-Assisted Therapeutic & Educational Services. These experiences reinforced her belief that people engage in different ways and that wellness can be supported through more than conversation alone.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, Malia’s perspective is deeply influenced by her connection to land and cultural identity. Having spent much of her life in Pennsylvania, these influences continue to shape how she approaches her work and her relationship with the communities around her.
Malia’s work reflects her mental health background and a growing interest in what wellness can look like outside of traditional clinical settings. Her work brings creative approaches into community spaces that feel familiar and accessible.
Well-being, woven into everyday life.
